With more than 20 years in nonprofit communications, Susan L. Wampler has worked for organizations large and small—including nearly 11 years at the University of Southern California, where she led the communications effort for the $2.85 billion “Building on Excellence” fundraising campaign. In January 2005, she transitioned from full-time employment to expand her rapidly growing consulting practice.

Before entering nonprofit communications, she was a magazine editor and newspaper reporter in Indianapolis, corporate counsel for the state of Indiana, and chief speechwriter and a legislative assistant for the Indiana House of Representatives. An award-winning journalist, she also has won more than three dozen national and regional awards for her journalism and nonprofit communications work.

A professional writer since age 16, when he penned a column for his hometown newspaper, Stan Wedeking’s experience includes overseeing development writing, publications and advertising as director of communications for the USC School of Dramatic Arts. He partnered with his wife, Susie, to expand her communications consulting practice in 2008. Stan serves as lead writer on numerous projects, from major fundraising proposals and speeches to annual reports and marketing communications.

Dora Dalton is a writer and editor who has worked in university and nonprofit communications for 20 years—the first decade at USC and UC San Diego and the second decade as a freelancer for UC Berkeley, UC San Francisco, USC, Cedars-Sinai, Alameda Health System and other academic institutions, nonprofits and healthcare organizations. Now based in the beachside town of Encinitas (north of San Diego), her work is fueled by curiosity and love of words. She spends her non-work time volunteering in her community and enjoying the outdoors with her family.
